Lake County High School
Situated at an elevation of 10,152 feet, Leadville is the highest incorporated city in the United States. With the extreme mountain conditions and unique geographic area, extensive planning was taken by the project team for the harsh seasonal conditions.
This project was a major renovation and expansion project that encompassed three separate additions that nearly doubled the size of the existing school. A new high school classroom, 50,000-sf addition – a double stacked wing – includes up-to-date science labs and wireless connection throughout, making every area a learning environment. Two small additions to an administrative area and around a stairway complete the 114,000 total square footage of the new school.
This project is the first USGBC LEED certified building in Leadville. It is expected to achieve LEED Gold certification.
