Overview

The University of Colorado, Colorado Springs is one of the fastest growing Universities in the State of Colorado. This growth has produced a shortage of offices and conference space. The Academic Office Building provides about 175 offices in a mix of open office plan, closed offices, conference rooms, and support spaces. The incorporated an energy efficient lighting design. The building is oriented from north to south for optimal day lighting to the major floor plates. The design included day lighting in all interior offices and work rooms.

Results

32% improvement on baseline building performance rating. This required early and accurate systems analysis on costs and energy of efficiencies of other types of cooling systems to achieve this ambitious goal.

  • 75% of occupied space has daylighting.
  • 35% reduction in baseline indoor water use.
