Carla Madison Recreation Center
The new Carla Madison Recreation Center is the first urban, recreation center in Denver, Colorado. Located on the corner of Colfax Avenue and Josephine Street the projects will add value to an area that is growing, being redeveloped, and changing rapidly.
This facility provides recreation opportunities where currently none exist. The facility includes swimming pools, a gymnasium, fitness clubs, community spaces, an outdoor track, and gaming courts. The building will be mostly a brick façade with metal panel accents. Large expanses of glass allow daylight and views into the building. Construction completion is scheduled for 2017.
The Rec Center showed 32.2% savings in energy costs, and is expected to receive an incentive of $80,976, through involvement with the Xcel Energy Energy Design Assistance (EDA) Program. The project is also pursuing LEED certification, and is in the process of applying for the Innovation and Design Credit. Group14 will also be part of the Fundamental and Enhanced Commissioning (Cx) for this site after construction is complete. The project is on track for LEED Gold certification.
