Commissioning Engineer / Project Manager

Group14 Engineering is an engineering consulting firm specializing in the built environment. Our services include building commissioning, energy audits, energy modeling, and consulting on LEED/ sustainability. Our Commissioning Team works mostly in Colorado and adjacent states. Our exciting and challenging projects include laboratories, higher education and K-12, health care, office, and recreation facilities among many others. We are hiring a self-motivated and creative Commissioning Engineer / Project Manager with excellent technical and written & verbal communication skills. We are looking for an individual with a strong commitment to energy efficiency, customer service and a responsible work ethic.

Qualifications

      • Undergraduate degree in mechanical, electrical, or architectural engineering from an accredited program.
      • 5+ years of experience with commercial buildings, preferably experience in commissioning, design engineering, MEP Coordination, and/or mechanical contracting.
      • Working knowledge of commercial HVAC, Plumbing, and building control systems.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially spreadsheet and word processing tools.
      • Ability to travel outside the Denver metro area (overnight to conduct work) up to 20% of the time.
      • Able to effectively prioritize multiple tasks, excellent organization, and time management skills.
      • Additional skills that are a plus include Bluebeam, cloud-based commissioning software, knowledge of electrical and life safety systems, and programming skills in VBA, or other relevant languages and tools.
      • Commissioning certifications are also a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

      • Provide hands-on field level support of construction and functional testing phases of new building commissioning projects.
      • Review design and construction documents (plans, specifications, and contractor submittals) as they are developed to ensure systems can be properly field tested and maintained.
      • Perform onsite testing of building systems including but not limited to MEP, Life-Safety, and Specialty Building Systems.
      • Coordinate integration of SkySpark software with building automation systems.
      • Analyze building energy performance data and provide guidance on the design and specification of energy sub-metering design.
      • Conduct field observation surveys and prepare field reports on the status of equipment and installations with respect to compliance with drawings, specifications, and Owner Project Requirements.
      • Develop and execute commissioning and retro-commissioning process deliverables, including but not limited to, commissioning plans, specifications, test procedures, reports, calculations and manuals.
      • Observe and document equipment startups, test and balance activities, and functional performance tests.
      • Depending on experience and strengths, the opportunity to manage the execution of new building commissioning projects including the execution of deliverables, oversight of project financials, and coordination with sub-consultants and other Group14 Cx team members. It is our intent to hire a skilled commissioning engineer that will either fill a Commissioning Project Manager position immediately or can develop the necessary skills to fill that role at a later date.

IT Technician

Group14 Engineering is an engineering consulting firm specializing in the built environment. Our services include building commissioning and monitoring, energy audits, energy modeling, and consulting on LEED/ sustainability. We are currently an office of 40 people working in our LEED Platinum office that is located just east of downtown Denver in Uptown.

We are hiring a self-motivated IT Technician with excellent technology and verbal communication skills. We are looking for a qualified IT Technician who will maintain computer systems and networks aiming for the highest functionality. You will also “train” users of the systems to make appropriate, safe and secure usage of the IT infrastructure. In addition, we would like this person to maintain our website as well as support the software side of our monitoring services.

Qualified candidates must have a thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks and operating systems. The ideal candidate will also have great troubleshooting abilities, attention to detail and coding experience. The objective is to maintain updated and efficient computer systems and networks to support all of our service areas.

Qualifications

      • Proven experience as IT Technician or relevant position
      • Excellent diagnostic and problem solving skills
      • Excellent communication ability
      • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
      • In depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks, including Windows 10, Windows Server 2008/2012, VMWare, Linux, and Google/GSuite for Business
      • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
      • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or other relevant field
      • Certification as IT Technician will be an advantage (e.g. CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional)
      • Software programming/scripting experience using Java, Python or similar to assist with the setup and development of SkySpark building monitoring software

Key Responsibilities:

      • Maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance
      • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, debugging etc.)
      • Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule
      • Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers etc.)
      • Check computer hardware (HDD, mice, keyboards etc.) to ensure functionality
      • Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications
      • Set up, maintain, and monitor server backup systems and applications
      • Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems
      • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment
      • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work
      • Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders
      • Help maintain website
      • Support building monitoring applications
